Antoine Fuqua‘s (Training Day) boxing drama Southpaw is set to open this weekend. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a championship boxer who must prove himself as a father and fight his way back to the top after he loses custody of his daughter in the wake of a personal tragedy. Like you’ve seen in the trailers, images, and clips, Gyllenhaal has transformed himself for the role and absolutely looks the part. Southpaw also stars Forest Whitaker, 50 Cent, Rachel McAdams,Clare Foley, Miguel Gomez, Victor Ortiz, Rita Ora and Naomie Harris.
At the Los Angeles press day I asked Southpaw cast members Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams and Miguel Gomez to play “Save or Kill”. If you haven’t seen it yet, the game reveals which franchises, characters or bands someone would choose when pitted against another of equal value. Han Solo or Indiana Jones – if you were told you could only save one and the other would be erased from existence forever, who would you pick?
