Mother, grandmother charged in abduction of 1-year-old Punxsutawney girl

UPDATE |

Authorities in Jefferson County say the mother of 1-year-old Adrienne Rand, who was reported missing Tuesday, is now facing charges in her disappearance.

Police say 27-year-old Tarra Rand is accused of running off with the child after CYS workers attempted to serve a court order to have the toddler removed from the home.

According to the affidavit, Rand allegedly fled out of a back bedroom of the home and was reportedly picked up by a known acquaintance who found them walking along the road.

Police say after hours of questioning relatives and searching the area, both Rand and her child were found at a neighboring residence Wednesday morning.

Investigators say the child was unharmed and Rand was taken into custody.

According to online court records, she was arraigned Wednesday on charges of child endangerment, custody interference, disorderly conduct and concealing the whereabouts of a child.

Authorities say she is being held at the Jefferson County Prison on $50,000 bail.

Police also noted that the child's grandmother, 50-year-old Cindy Rand, was also taken into custody on similar charges after she allegedly threatened to kill the CYS workers who came to the home.

Her bail was set at $100,000, online court dockets show.
