Jeffrey Dunham was born on April 18, 1962 in Dallas, Texas. He was adopted by Howard Dunham – a property appraiser – and Joyce Dunham, a homemaker, when he was just three months old. He grew up in their Presbyterian home and in their affluent neighborhood. He was also their only child.
Jeff got into ventriloquism when he was just eight years old after his parents bought him a modeling album and how-to guide for Christmas. The very next day, he glanced at a how-to book on ventriloquism that he hadn’t yet returned to the library. From a young age, he decided that he not only wanted to be a good ventriloquist, but also the best ever. This led him to play for hours in front of the mirror.
